Finally got the chance to get out and do some serious prospecting after a long winter stretch. The weather was great this past week-end and we took full advantage of it. Still a little snow on the ground but the ground wasn’t frozen.
We classified 12 buckets down to 1/4″ and a couple of buckets of unclassified material(too tired to classify any more) to run through the high-banker.
The pump gave us a few problems and we lost about an hour from our production. Used regular gas instead of 91 supreme. These small pumps don’t work great on regular gas.
We dug a couple of nice holes, and test panned all the way down. The gold stopped at the water mark in the above photo, and we continued on in a new hole, once again sampling as we went. All in all, we did 25 test pans. While this sampling is time consuming, it saves digging a whole lot of ground with no gold in it, and we sure didn’t want that.
All in all it was a great day on one of our placer claims, and we are looking forward to another trip next week.
